Photography is a journey of discovery for me. It allows me to discover hidden gems in our lives in unexpected and fascinating ways— to see the world from a completely different perspective. It has also given me a way to overcome the many challenges in my life. In particular photography has taught me that unlike math or the sciences, there is always another solution to a problem.
This is the idea that drives me as a professional photographer, in that I always try to find the extraordinary in the ordinary. I think photography is also a way to show my inner world and share it. This process is not easy. There are exciting times and difficult times, but the process itself is always productive.
Perhaps because I was born in China, where urban life is as vivid as the country’s scenery, my favorite subjects are street scenes and landscapes. If street photography is the art of the moment, then landscape photography is the art of eternity. Either way, I believe that every captured moment is unique and has its own story. After a long period of self-education, I decided to move to the United States to continue my studies. And here I am, in a new city, with a new universe of photographic possibilities.
